Challenge: This is a work in progress where I’ve challenged myself to define, research, map, plan and design a mobile app for budget tracking.
Solution TBD: First defining the problem and the user, mapping out their goals and the key features that can get them there. I’m researching consumer needs, competitors and familiar design and interaction patterns and systems. Starting with a clean style guide and exploring a variety of components. What is the purpose or end goal? How will we get there, and what obstacles will we face? How will we know we’ve arrived? And what design elements will keep us engaged along the way?
Starting with broad questions helps us to empathize with, and discover user needs. ‘User’ here, meaning: people.
What do people need and how can design help them to get there?
